JOHN PORTER | Founding Partner
John Porter advises the Permico management team on issues involving development, acquisition and capital markets. He was most recently Executive Vice President and Global Head of CBRE Energy Infrastructure, a specialty practice group within CBRE, Inc. His CBRE career spans 25 years as a top producer and industry leader, having led the supply chain and energy infrastructure business units, including their expansion into upstream, midstream, downstream, power generation and supporting infrastructure assets. His expertise includes strategy, development and capital markets. He has a B.S. in Management from Georgia Tech and an MBA from the University of Southern California. He is a Georgia Tech football letterman, a member of the New York Athletic Club and Chairman of the Porter Foundation.
JEFFREY SYKES | Founding Partner
Jeffrey Sykes is active in contract and marketing development for Permico. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served our nation from 1995 through 2006 as a Force Reconnaissance Marine including multiple combat tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo and other combat theaters. Beginning in 2006, he accepted assignments serving as a senior intelligence officer with Defense Intelligence Agency, Joint Special Operations Command and other government agencies with overseas assignments. While serving in these assignments Mr. Sykes led defense programs in excess of a billion dollars that were critical to US national security and defense efforts. He is a graduate of Campbell University and some of his service awards include the Superior Civilian Service Medal, Joint Civilian Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal with Combat “V” and Civilian Combat Service Medal.
JEFFREY BEICKER | CEO and Founding Partner
Jeffrey Beicker has over 30 years experience in the green field development, construction, and operation of midstream and downstream energy assets. His previous senior leadership roles span 20 years with Shell, Spark Energy and Marlin Midstream. His development capital scorecard exceeds $1 billion in combined senior debt facilities, short term debt revolvers and trade finance facilities. That experience is combined with a proven management record in energy trading and risk management, including, natural gas liquids, power, crude oil, refined products and natural gas. As a member of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for several years, he served on numerous NYMEX committees and consulted for the Chicago Board of Trade. He spent the early years of his career working with Koch, Natural Gas Clearinghouse, Tenaska and Enron. He is a guest lecturer on energy options and financial trading at Rice University, Texas A&M University and the University of Houston. He advocates and raises funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
DR. JOON KIM | Senior Financial Advisor
Dr. Kim serves as financial adviser to Permico. He is the Managing Partner of JK Partners & Company, an infrastructure project management and project finance consulting company located in Seoul, South Korea. He is an adjunct professor at Yonsei University Graduate School of Economics and a published author. Dr. Kim received his PH.D. in Economics from Claremont Graduate University, California. He previously served as managing director of cross border transactions for Kudos Financial Consulting Group, Senior Economist for SK Group, assistant professor at USC Center for Asian Pacific Leadership, and a fellow at USC Center for Communication Law and Policy. He has also held key industry positions including the SK Group Deputy at G20 Business Summit on Renewable Energy and with The SUPEX Management Institution.
JOSEPH J. LAVIN | Legal Advisor
Joseph Lavin, an experienced transactional business attorney, serves as legal advisor to Permico. Currently a Partner at Lavin Puig, he previously represented Fortune 50 companies and their executives as a member of the complex commercial litigation team at Dechert International’s Manhattan law offices. As part of Permico’s D.C. based team, he now focuses primarily on the transactional and compliance aspects of its Texas NGL project as well as international commercial partnership development activities including deal structuring and contractual risk management. He received his juris doctorate from Georgetown Law, where he graduated with honors.
